Meet our team
Stride Pest Control has two locations across Central Texas – one covering Austin and Round Rock, the other serving San Antonio. Both owners are licensed and certified, and we run our operations the same way across all locations.
Tyson Kearns owns and runs the Austin and Round Rock side of the business. He has a BS in Information Technology fromย Brigham Young Universityย and worked in pest control for years before starting Stride – doing actual service calls, running marketing, and managing operations. That combination of field work and business experience shapes how we run things today.
Alex Randall owns and operates our San Antonio location. He holds both Termite and General Pest Control Operator certifications from theย EPAย and State of Texas, plus his degree fromย BYU-Idaho. Getting certified in both termites and general pest control takes real commitment – most techs stick with one or the other.
Between both locations, we have 9 full-time technicians, 5 people on customer service, and management staff. Everyone goes through training that exceeds what the state requires. Our Office Manager, Michael Honeycutt, earned hisย Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE)ย credential from theย Entomological Society of Americaย – that takes 5+ years in the field and passing a comprehensive exam on entomology. If you look at our reviews, you’ll see customers mention techs like Ramone, Burton, Marcos, Henry, Gerrit, and Raul by name. That’s the kind of service that gets remembered.

Our Mission and Values
Our mission:ย To provide the best possible pest control service in the nicest possible way.
That’s not marketing talk – it’s how we actually operate. Pest control is about more than killing bugs. It’s about taking care of people’s homes, being someone they can call when there’s a problem, and making sure they’re happy with the results.
How we work:
Customer-First Approachย – We treat customers like family. Most of our business comes from people who’ve been with us for years. Our 4.9-star rating across more than 2,400 reviews shows what happens when you actually take care of people.
Excellence and Innovationย – The pest control industry changes. New products come out, new techniques get developed, regulations update. Our team goes toย Pest Worldย (the NPMA’s big annual conference) to stay on top of what’s working and what’s new.
Integrity and Transparencyย – We tell you what we’re going to do, what it costs, and what to expect. Our guarantees aren’t fine print – if you call us back between treatments, we come back for free. If we can’t fix it after multiple tries, you get your money back. We’ve never had to do that, but the offer stands.
Attention to Detailย – Rushing through a service call means missing things. Our five-step Stride Forward process takes the time to do it right – inspection, identification, recommendation, treatment, and follow-up evaluation.
Environmental Responsibilityย – We’reย GreenProย certified, which means we followย Integrated Pest Managementย (IPM) principles set by the EPA. We look for ways to solve problems without chemicals first. When we do treat, we use products designed to be safe around families and pets.

Our Certifications & Awards
Stride Pest Control holdsย QualityProย andย GreenProย certifications through theย NPMA’s Foundation for Professional Pest Management. QualityPro represents the pest management industry’s highest accreditation – often called the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval” for pest control – requiring background checks on all employees, drug-free workplace policies, and adherence to 16 standards that exceed state and federal requirements.
We are active members of theย Texas Pest Control Association, theย Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, and theย Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce. In 2025, Stride was voted Best Pest Control Company in theย 12th Annual Best of Round Rock Awardsย – a community-driven program that received 50,000 votes across 191 categories.
Stride also maintains theย BBB A+ ratingย for both our Austin and San Antonio locations with zero complaints on file.
13+ Years Of Service and Success
Tyson Kearns started Stride Pest Control in 2013 after moving his family from the Rocky Mountains to Round Rock, Texas. The company started small – one truck, one technician – and has grown into a team of 20+ employees serving nearly 12,000 customers across Central Texas. We opened our San Antonio location in January 2020, right before COVID hit. Not the easiest time to expand, but we made it work.
We’ve grown because we pay attention to what works. When a new product comes out that does a better job, we test it. When we find a technique that solves a problem more effectively, we train the whole team on it. Most of our new customers come from referrals – someone we’ve worked with tells their neighbor or coworker about us. That’s the kind of growth that lasts.
Licensed and Certified Professionals
Stride Pest Control operates under active Commercial Business licenses from theย Texas Department of Agricultureย (TDA) Structural Pest Control Service. Our Austin/Round Rock location holds TPCL #667951 (issued February 25, 2013), and our San Antonio location holds TPCL #827449 (issued February 21, 2020). Both locations carry active liability insurance verified through TDA records.
We have 6ย Certified Applicatorsย on staff – that’s the highest level of TDA certification. You have to pass rigorous exams and demonstrate real expertise to get that designation. Burton Johnston is our Responsible Certified Applicator for Austin/Round Rock, and Alexander Randall holds that role for San Antonio.
Every technician completes at least 68 hours of initial training before they take their state exams – 40 hours on the job, 20 hours in general standards classroom work, and 8 hours of category-specific training. The state requires continuing education every year to keep licenses active. We go beyond the minimums because theย Texas Administrative Codeย sets the floor, not the ceiling.
QualityPro Certification: The Industry Standard
QualityPro Certificationย through the Foundation for Professional Pest Management represents the pest management industry’s highest accreditation. Certification requires background checks on all employees, drug-free workplace policies, and adherence to 16 standards that exceed state and federal requirements. All customer-facing employees must pass the QualityPro examination.
Stride holds multiple QualityPro specialty credentials:
- GreenProย – Reduced-risk, comprehensive IPM approach
- QualityPro Schoolsย – Specialized protocols for educational facilities
- QualityPro Food Safetyย – Food service and healthcare facility standards
- QualityPro Healthย – Healthcare environment pest management
