Pests that we deal with:
Accurately identifying the type of pest you are dealing with is very important in order to know how to treat and that is where Stride Pest Control comes in. There are hundreds of different types of pests that we deal with, but these are a general list of the main types of pests we offer services for and ones that we don’t. There are certain types of pests that require specialty companies and we make sure to have referrals for our clients in order to take care of any pest that we cannot guarantee the removal of ourselves. Our general pest control services can help to get rid of the pests listed below as well as several others, so if you aren’t sure if we will handle the type of pest that is giving you trouble, please contact us and we would be happy to go over any questions you may have.
There are several types of roaches including German roaches, American roaches, and Smokey brown roaches. These types of pests can crawl in through pipes, cracks, doorways, and windows. There are many places for roaches to hide within the home and they are often out more at night when you can’t see them, so having a pest control professional come in to take care of this issue is important. Roaches can transmit bacteria which can be harmful to you, anyone living in your home, and whomever enters your home. This makes it very important to get rid of them as soon as possible once their presence is known. We can take care of these pests with our general pest control services as well as recommending tactics to keep them away after our service is performed.
There are nearly 1000 types of spiders that have been found around Texas and these are a common type of pest that we help our clients deal with. Some different types of spiders we deal with are black widows, brown recluse spiders, jumping spiders, wolf spiders, and garden spiders. The heat and humidity in Texas creates a perfect environment for Spiders to thrive in which makes them prevalent in Texas. Luckily there aren’t too many poisonous spiders in Texas but having a pest control expert come in to identify the types of spiders and recommended treatments is the best plan of action if they are found around your home. We also specialize in the removal of scorpions.
There are five main species of termites in Texas and it is critical to determine the type you may be dealing with as soon as possible as they are prevalent in a high risk termite area like Austin. Our team is certified and required to receive a separate training for termite control as well as yearly continuing education for removing termites from the home. Once assessing the type of termite in the client’s home we will outline our plan for treatment to get rid of these pests before they do too much damage.
Note: We don’t provide service for getting rid of dry termites by fumigation, but that is something that we rarely deal with geographically in the Austin, TX area. If dry termites are found there is a company who provides fumigation in Texas.
Wasps, Yellow jackets, and Hornets
These flying insects are often seen in summer months when they build their nests. These insects can sting and there are lots of people who are allergic to them, which makes these flying insects important to get ride of as soon as possible. They can build nests in attics, gutters, underneath decks, etc. Removal of the nest itself is very important and we provide the services and tactics to do so and keep our clients safe.
Small mice and Rodents/Rats
We provide basic rodent services for smaller rodents like mice and rats. We do trapping on the interior of the home and baiting on the outside of the home. We don’t recommend doing baiting in the interior of the home because you run the risk of the rodents dying in the walls, which is why we limit this to the outside.
There are several types of ants we deal with including but not limited to fire ants, rover ants, carpenter ants, acrobat ants, pharoah ants, crazy ants, and argentine ants. Fire ants can bite and sting so when they are found within or around the home you will want to get rid of them and the mounds they create. We will treat each individual mound for the baits, then we put a granule in the yard to get rid of the pests. We also offer a special fire ant granule that prevents the ants from building any mounds in your yard for an entire year if the client is interested in this service.
Some other common pests we deal with include:
Pests we don’t deal with:
If you experiencing a pest problem with a pest that is not listed here, please contact us and we can review the problem with you to see if this is something we can help you with. If you are experiencing problems with a type of pest that we don’t deal with we will be able to refer you to another specialty company that can take care of this issue.
The on-going rains in the Central Texas area makes for a great environment for mosquitoes to breed, which is why they are so prevalent. Our services can help cut mosquitoes down but we cannot guarantee the complete removal of these types of pests. There are companies that specifically deal with cutting down on the appearance of mosquitoes around your home. We can also recommend different IPM tactics to our clients to cut down on the amount of these types of pests.
Bed Bugs tend to hide in the seams and any openings on mattresses, box springs, bed frames, older furniture, etc. They tend to be associated with unclean living conditions but this is not always the case and they can be found in very clean environments. Bed bugs are easily transported from one place to another in luggage, on clothing, etc. Stride Pest Control doesn’t do a lot of bed bug work – we usually refer to another company for this type of work. Bed bugs can be difficult to control but there are different methods you can use to control them, which we can suggest to our clients dealing with these types of pests.
We don’t like to kill bees because of their vitality to our food supply and the good they do for the environment. They do however need to be removed if entering the home – we do get tons of calls for bees during the springtime. If you have a beehive on your property or a problem with bees we will refer you to a specialist that can attempt to remove the bees safely without killing them and without getting harmed in the process.
Examples of larger rodents would be critters like squirrels and raccoons. Large rodents tend to be dealt with by animal control services rather than pest control companies.
